Dimensioning Your Rocket Engine
One of the HARDEST parts of designing your own rocket engine is figuring out where to start. The whole tasking of figuring out what to do first in a whole list of complicated tasks to do it all seems very daunting. I am writing this page to show you the steps from figuring out what your thrust values are, to having all the key dimensions needed to begin your engine design.
If you plan on actually being able to use this engine is a rocket the first task you will want to do before anything is to figure out how much the rest of the rocket will weigh and what is your target altitude. This key piece of information will allow us to figure out what our thrust curve needs to look like to get a rocket of a certain mass to a specific target altitude.
