Custom Designing Rocket Engines
Designing a Rocket Engine is an extremely feat. We are all probably used to just using metal under regular conditions where we are no where close to their yield strengths & melting temperatures. However, this proves to be on of the most difficult parts of designing an engine, not the forget the huge amounts of knowledge you need to have about compressible fluid flow. There are a million things that can go wrong in a rocket engine, and only one way for it to work. Within the material we cover a large part of it will cover the fundamentals to getting started in understanding how hybrid and liquid engines work. We will not pay much attention to solid rocket motors mainly due to the fact that they are very limiting in that to achieve extremely high altitude > 25,000ft we would need boat loads of regulations to create the fuel (which would be categorized as an explosive). Only towards the end of this series will you learn how to properly design an engine and manufacture one for testing. When we get to that part of the lesson please note that I am in no way responsible for you attempting to manufacture and test these rocket designs.
